What are YCCs?

YCC stands for Youth Club Championships and is the elite level tournament for youth from across the country. YCC is hosted by USA Ultimate (USAU) and brings together elite level teams from across the country to compete. From USAU: “The 2017 Youth Club Championships (YCC) will return to its perennial home at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn. for the 13th consecutive year, Aug. 5-7, and will again be hosted by Minnesota Ultimate. For the first time ever, YCC will be combined with the U.S. Open, which will take place Aug. 4-6, at the National Sports Center. The event will be the biggest of the year, with more than 2,000 athletes competing across four days of play.”

How many players will be on each team?

Teams look to have 25-30 players, taking a roster of 18-20 players to Minnesota.

When and where is Practice?

Boys U17/U20 practices will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-8:30pm at Portland Waldorf School in Milwaukie until the Youth Club League starts on July 11, then practices will be held Thursdays only, as well as four to six weekend training camps held at a rotating location (Portland, Bend, Corvallis, Eugene).

Girls U17 practices are held on Sundays from 2-4pm at Lents Park through June 4th. The first practice of the season will be Thursday June 15th at Portland Waldorf School from 6-8:30pm. Practices will be on Thursday nights at Portland Waldorf until July. Starting July 6th practices will be held on Thursdays at Normandale Park from 6-8:30pm. There will also be Saturday afternoon practices at Portland Waldorf starting July 8th. As well as 1-2 weekend training camps a month held at a rotating location (Portland, Bend, Corvallis, Eugene).

Youth Club League:  Tuesdays, 6-8pm (July 11th – Aug 8th) at Normandale Park, Portland, OR.

YCC team players are required to participate in a USAU sponsored club league. Portland Ultimate is hosting a Youth Club League for this purpose.

We understand that family summer vacation is an important thing in Oregon and realize that plans have been made and vacations will be taken.

How much will it cost?

Team dues (per player) will be $400.* This includes: jerseys, USAU dues, housing during tournament, food at the fields, rental cars, and YCC Tournament fees. This does not include: travel to Minnesota, or food during the tournament weekend.

USAU Membership

YCC players will be required to obtain a USAU membership, and be a USAU member in good standing.

What do I need to bring?

Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, cleats, layers, a white and a dark.

Are scholarships available?

Yes! Portland Ultimate believes everyone who is selected to play for Oregon teams should be able to. Scholarships will be awarded on a need basis, and Portland Ultimate is currently seeking additional opportunities for team fundraising to make sure everyone who is selected can attend YCCs.
